don't you think the proper adoption of web assembly in the near future and making it ready as trusted and complete solution for browser scripting will make Asp.Net / AND Asp.net core obsolete ?

not likely. webassembly is a browser client technology. asp.net core is a server technology. even with client technologies you need a server for api access, and hosting of the client resources (say the webassembly itself).
currently my web application ui pages are all react/redux, but still the largest code base is still the server code in asp.net

As personal, here are some my opinions.
improve performance(mainly in compiler aspect). you could view this
picture if we use Web assembly, it could not need to pass JS engine and get native code directly ;
2, As we know, the front-end engineer invented the Nodejs, to achieve direct write back-end code. and the Webassmbley just the one which back-end engineer to control HTML page directly, but it seems that it only is good for
3, It made by Chrome, Apple, and Microsoft company together
https://github.com/WebAssembly/design/graphs/contributors; So don't worry ...
4, In general, the biggest effort is for the front-end engineer to work well at all platform browsers, the main point still is HTML, CSS, Element, Animation ;
