I have a question. I’m considering programming a web application using ASP.NET MVC 5 or ASP.NET MVC Core 2 which needs authentication/authorization.
The application is for local branches of an association. I was thinking of separating each branch’s data in their own database. However, some people is from the main branch/is associated with several branches and should have access to individual branches
(with the same login) – However the same person might not have the same rights to each branch. Can I use ASP.NET Identity for this? And how do I handle the “problem” with different rights for the same person to different branches?

Yes, Identity can handle this out-of-the-box
And how do I handle the “problem” with different rights for the same person to different branches?
Claims and policies are used to craft complex authorization access rules.
