1) Since framework is installed I see no problem
2) No there is not.
Suggest you at least give a try with newest framework, at least 4.5, perhaps you be surprised with nothing to change, it depends....

As far as i know, there is no work around for this issue, I suggest you update your .net framework, here are someone who meet the similar issue as you, please check:
