did you try to confirm that password is correct? if not you can try to verify it first.
also you can try to something like below.
ALTER LOGIN [sa] WITH PASSWORD='newpassword', CHECK_POLICY=OFF
ALTER LOGIN [sa] ENABLE
let us know about your testing result.

thank u, but the problem it is not solved :-(
I did query to sql server to "login failed" when WPI runs but no way no rows returned
EXEC sp_readerrorlog 0,
the problem it is not password but sql server connectivity
but a google search tells that it is WPI issue....
any other tip please?

I try to find the cause for the issue but unfortunately did not get any useful information.
you had mentioned that you got error,"sa password wrong or failed to connect to sql server"
is it the exact error that you got? if there is any change in actual error then let me know about that.
I will try to find further information regarding that.
