please discuss with example that why Rest is called architectural pattern ?
in rest all action based on http verb....so is it the reason for which Rest is called architectural pattern ?
or in rest url is mapped to action ....so is it the reason for which Rest is called architectural pattern ?
please help me to understand why Rest is called architectural pattern ?

@Chris it is not clear why REST is called architectural pattern ?
soap based web service is also based on HTTP if we implement it by asmx web service
soap based web service is also stateless
soap based web service can provide data in json or xml format.
soap based web service also can be restful because rest can be applied in wcf too.
please come with more explanation. thanks

It's not a particular technical points that make REST an "architectural pattern". It is really just an English or terminology question. An architectural pattern is nothing more than a "general reusable solution to a given problem". MVC as well is an architectural
pattern and you'll find this in JSP, PHP etc...
Seems to me you are looking too far...
