I'm trying to publish an ASP.NET Core v.1.1 project to a remote server but although I am setting as destination url the url of the website I want to publish to, Visual Studio 2015 Update 3 keeps publishing the files to AppData\Local\Temp\PublishTemp path.
What am I doing wrong? Is there any configuration I need to change anywhere else? Or is there something I need to change to my remote server so that this works?
Please help me, I really have tried everything and I cannot find any information on the web for this issue. Even a link that points to a similar issue would help.
Thanks in advance.

Hi! What is your destination server OS? Windows?
Anyway, all you need to do is publish to ANY folder and then copy to the server (in the application folder). You may need to make small changes in the web.config (I can share my working one). Also you need to install .net core on the destination server (you
can find the links in the tutorial I have sent you).
Feel free to ask if you still have any questions.

First of all thank you for your quick reply. I have followed the steps from the link you have sent me but it seems that I need something more to make this work. For now, what I do is publishing the application which publishes the appropriate files to AppData\Local\Temp\PublishTemp\ApplicationFolder
and then I copy them to a USB and copy again to the server (the server I have is Windows Server 2012 R2). I have made all the appropriate installations but I cannot find a way to publish the files directly to the server.
This is my web.config:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
Configure your application settings in appsettings.json. Learn more at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=786380
<add name="aspNetCore" path="*" verb="*" modules="AspNetCoreModule" resourceType="Unspecified"/>
The following is the information I enter in the Publish VS2015 designer:
Can you see anything that is wrong?

Sorry, I didn't try Web Deploy, only direct FTP publishing. It works with no problems.
