what the purpose of hosting wcf in console app or windows app although we can access service contract operations from client ?
i created a wcf service application and added operation contract then at the same solution i created an empty web application then select add service reference choose the wcf which i created afterthat i used the proxy to access the methods i can access
it so i need to understand i used wcf without hosting and why hosting in brief please

If WCF service needs to run, it must be hosted either on IIS, or in a console/desktop app, so that other apps can consume it.
When you are in Visual Studio, it is usually the test WCF host utility hosting the service for you. It does not mean that WCF needs no hosting.
