Since you want to develop on a Mac with Visual Studio Code, the path for you to follow is ASP.NET Core. Clicking Learn more on that Learn page will lead you to the ASP.NET Core documentation: https://docs.asp.net/en/latest/.
There you will find everything you need to get developing.

Where is the updated web site for learning ASP?

Good day!
This is the url I was taken to when browsing to learn ASP.net.
http://www.asp.net/web-pages/overview/getting-started/introducing-aspnet-web-pages-2/getting-started
It shows web matrix, which on another page says have been replaced by visual studio code. https://www.microsoft.com/web/webmatrix/
Where is the updated site with the VSC?
Do this mean I can learn and develop ASP pages purely on a mac with visual studio code, without the need for visual studio community edition?

For learning ASP.NET, you should start here: http://www.asp.net/learn
