I got a gridview with an ordinary header. This header has position: absolute so it doesn't disappear when the user scrolls down.
That is what it looks when the page loads:
and that is what it looks like when a row is selected:
why does it do that and what can I do to prevent this?

When select a row , have your changed the css of the gridview except color ? Without code it is hard to reproduce . You needn't set header position: absolute to
freeze your header . To freeze header, you could add a style “position: relative;” to header row. After this the entire header row will be frozen. The header row will not move when scrolling vertically up
and down. While scrolling horizontally (e.g. left to right), the column header have to move horizontally if the required width is more than available width. Please read below articles for how to make the header frozen :
