I am totally new to this issue, so please treat me as if I were a four year should you offer any guidance (thanks in advance)
I have a regular asp.net ajax enabled web application built that is very generic, does not accept any kind of authentication other than it's own manually built-in hookey way of asking a user to enter credentials and then checking them against a table in
a home made SQL database.
I host the application in Azure.
I have customers asking if they can use their on-premise Microsoft Active Directory credentials to login in against my homemade web application.
I have looked at Shibboleth and Azure AD, but I really don't understand or know where to begin.
I guess I am asking is this possible to do? What is the easiest simpliest way i coudl test something like this against my own Active Directory setup.
Thanks in Advance

I would suggest your begin with this tool: Azure AD Connect. You could get more detailed information about it at this article:
https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/active-directory-aadconnect/. Hope this helps.
