My client sends a message in xml format. My requirement is, after receiving the message, save it in queue and send response to client saying "Message received successfully". To fulfill this requirement, what is the best practice to start? Create restful
service or aspx handler? How to send response to client?

For now it looks like a rest service. The XML payload would be just posted to the service. My understanding is that the XML would be store somewhere for later use and the service just respond with a "200 OK". Sometimes it's best to know the big picture.
For exaple could it be something such as issuing "job requests" that are processed at a later time (I short I suspect it might be part of a bigger service in which case it would make sense to really create a service, ASHX handlers are rather to serve non
HTML dynamic content (dynamics images, scripts, resources etc...)
