Our company has a common header and footer which must be displayed on every web page and application. Currently we created a DLL that lives in the GAC on every web server that is simply referenced in each application (Web Forms, MVC) etc and it displays
a navigation bar and logo etc.
Since we are moving to a much more complex server environment and I thought creating a WCF or ASMX service that could serve this content up to be rendered on the client would be a better solution. This way if the company logo changes we could just update
the service and not have to redeploy the DLL to every server location.
Does anyone have any idea how I could accomplish this? It must be compatabile with WCF, Web Forms, JQuery. Currently the DLL renders a web user control for web forms and for MVC its generates a MVChtmlstring.
