I'm currently test migrating an VS2013 - ASP.NET 4 web application to VS2015 - ASP.NET 5.
One of the problems is that the project includes a lot of sound assets that i have included in the project, around 2000 files. The earlier version Visual Studio handled this quite fine, but now it it takes about 2 minutes to open the project in VS2015.
Is this a known problem?
(I know that I should separate the assets into some sorts of other storage outside of the project. But the files are structured in a specific format which makes them difficult to publish into Azure storage outside of the Web application.)

Perhaps it will takes some time to load your asp.net application at the first time, please clean and rebuild your project, and open it again, check whether it makes any difference.

I have tried that mutiple times with both Visual Studio 2015 Pro and Visual Studio 2015 Community edition, still slow. Visual Studio says it is loading the xproj in the status bar before it freezes. During the freeze even Windows thinks Visual Studio crashed.
Perhaps this is a problem you have to live with if the solution directory contains this many files.

Solved the issue by upgrading to Beta 7 that includes a tooling update. Now the project open instantly!
