Hopefully I'll get a more polite response here than I did elsewhere in this ASP forum, rather than simply deleting my query.
I had a need to upgrade our Intranet server to 2008, done, worked. I then had to upgrade our database server from 2003 to 2008 and SQL 2000 to SQL 2008. The WEB server still works, but when I shutdown the old server my ASP page stops working. I should
point out that I inherited our Intranet from a previous WEB designer and DBA. While I can do simple WEB design, connecting to db's is not a skill as yet. I looked in all associated VB files and changed the connection from the old server to the new server
and the appropriate database (moved). It will NOT connect to the new server. Any hints where I might look to correct the problem?

Check your connection string to make sure you have the correct credential to access your database from your web server (web config file).
You can choose one connection string (and compare with your old one as well).

You may sometimes have to use fully qualified domain name instead of a short of the machine name.
You can also run a SQL Profiler to see if there is a connection request from web server.
