I am upgrading a legacy app that uses OracleDataReader.GetBytes() to retrieve file blobs from a db.
(msdn method definition:
The last input param is the size of the byte blocks innumerated for a BinaryWriter.
In legacy app, this last param is set to 8096 with a comment from 2004.
Given this setting from 2004, I'm wondering how much higher I can set this since the new app is being deployed to 2008 Servers with an eye on performance.
Can someone give me some suggestions and considerations? Much appreciated.

Thank you for your post.
The length is size of buffer block.
Whether it is bigger or smaller will not have a significant impact on the performance of the application.
So just leave 8096 as fine.
Hoping my reply could be helpful to you.
