I am trying to install Visual Studio Web Express 2013 + Cloud for free from this url http://www.asp.net/mvc/mvc5. The installation last 1 hour so far and doesn't show signs that it is working.
The downloading finished in about 10 minutes (about 600 MB) and now the "installing" bar just loops infinitely. I even installed fresh copy of Windows 8.1 64 bit but the same thing happens again. Here is link image from the scenario http://i.imgur.com/iZMv37P.png.
I also included the task manager to show you that there is no activity on the disk drive or the CPU from the WPI process.
What is more confusing is that the installer only says "Installing" but doesn't specify any progress or what is it installing at the moment. What should I do now? Is it stuck or I should just wait longer and if so, how long ?
Edit: I decided to stop it and start again. I noticed in the task manager that when I start the installer and click to accept the licence agreement, a new process Windows Update Standalone Installer is created and it produces sound like when you click on
button and it is not clickable. I hope this info helps.
Edit 2: Now I highly suspect that the windows update standalone installer is the one who gets stuck.
My machine: Intel Core i5 2450M @ 2.5 GHz, 8GB RAM, Windows 8.1 64 bit.

I ended up canceling this installation and decided to install visual studio community. Now I can work in peace.

One recommendation for issues like this and in the future is to ensure that you are running the installer with Administrative privileges (e.g. Right-click > Run as Administrator). I've found that this generally resolves a huge percentage of installation
