I am using VS 2012 for web development. In visual studio designer, I can easily format the code using short cut: cntrl + k and cntrl + d. If any spaces or indents b/w h2 tags, they would be removed and formatted nicely as shown below:
But if I use my custom tags like 'ct' (badly I need to use some of my own tags), visual studio is not able to format the code correctly with the same short cut.
can any one suggest on how to fix this?

Welcome to asp.net forum.
Click the "Tag Specific Options..."
Click the "New Tag..." button, add the "ct" tag, and check whether it helps you.

I have followed exactly the same steps, but no luck. The tags are not formatting by visual studio when I use cntrl + k, cntrl + d. I have tried by restarting the visual studio to reflect the changes, but even it doesn't worked out. Any other solutions?

We click New Tag to create a new tag in the selected folder.
Generally, you create a new tag when you are defining custom formatting behavior for a specific control or element or when you want to define formatting for a tag that is not already an ASP.NET server control or HTML element.
Please try it again, and check whether it still has same issue.
