What I am trying to do using ASP>NET VB is create a new record when redirecting to another screen. The purpose of this is to save values. View state works OK but it requires using the back button. I guess I could use Session State but there are many.
Also, I want to use an AJAX update panel, so view state controls do not seem to work.
I already have code that saves a new record. I also have code that retrieves a record using the click even with a list control.
My idea would be when returning to the original screen to use the form load event to call a sub that would open a specific record in the database. This would be the record that was saved when last leaving the screen. Where I am stuck is I cannot learn how
to open a data record except by using the list box.

Study BIND command in the text box field on an ASP.NET form to BIND a specific column of a returned record to that TEXT BOX.
Example text box called tbRepairs BINDs to the REPAIRS column of the returned row.
If the text is edited, you can then UPDATE the REPAIRS column using VB.NET
<td colspan="4" style="width:100%;"><asp:TextBox ID="tbRepairs" runat="server" Text='<%# Bind("REPAIRS") %>' MaxLength="1024" Width="1100px"
