I have a report (RDLC) in my web application to which I need to add a new column. So I added the new column to the underlying dataset, but when I go to the report to refresh the dataset so I can include this new column in the report, all of the dataset columns
disappear. I've done this sort of thing numerous times in the past so I'm perplexed as to what might causing this behavior. Any suggestions on what to check for?

OK, this is weird. This time, rather than clicking Refresh on the right-click context menu of the dataset, I brought up the Dataset Properties dialog box and saw my new column in the fields list. After clicking OK, to dismiss the dialog box, then suddenly
my new column appears in the list. Now I can click Refresh without the fields disappearing. Chalk this up as some sort of bug, I suppose. I'm using VS 2013 SP4.
