What is the password encryption mechanism is been used in the default ASP.Net web application that exists with the Visual Studio?

There is no encryption, the passwords are hashed using SHA1.

Well, My actual requirement is. I am working on creating Coded UI test scripts for the login and registration actions on the default asp.net app. Everything went ok except passing the password. System expects some encrypted or hashed value. I tried with
all the encoding methods and SHA1 hash as well but no luck. So I am directly using the encrypted value (as constant) that has been generated by the coded UI test recorder.
I think it is out of scope for this thread, so I am closing it and create the same under Lightweight Test Automation.
Anyway thanks for the reply.

At last I found the answer.
We need to encrypt the Text or Password using Playback.EncryptText(text or password);
