Is it supported to have a custom transport within the SignalR framework?
I need to control the payload format and transport for a specific interop use case but would otherwise like to take advantage of all the connection management, backplane, etc. goodness that comes with SignalR.
If it is not currently supported, is there any roadmap consideration for adding it?

I know about protobuf being used in a production environment in combination with SignalR. Which transport are you looking for? Perhaps there's already a Nuget package for it.

In my case, I need to roll my own proprietary transport with a custom serializer (akin to protobuf) for integration to existing solution. The serialization aspect wouldn't be too bad if I could control the transport on both sides, unfortunately I can only
control one side.
You mentioned Nuget packages for other transports. Would you be able to point me to one and I could possibly use its SignalR bootstrapping process for my own?
