In my .Net 4.5 web application, I am using Membership provider for log-in. I have an old customer they are STILL using both IE9 and IE8.
In IE-9, it allows me to log-in when I use URL - "//localhost". But IE8, if I use "//localhost", it is showing default.aspx but it is not allowing me to log-in. If I use "//localhost/Default.aspx" the log-in is ok.
My question is why Membership provider is not allowing me to login when I don't add default.aspx in IE8?
Thanks in advance,

What do you mean “it is showing default.aspx but it is not allowing me to log-in.”? Whether the default.aspx page is login page and customer failed log in although who use the right username and password?
Did you get any error message?
You could save the necessary information to a log file (in the log method), then check the log.
