The subject pretty much says it all, but I'm interested in doing some sort of multi-room chat application in an ASP.NET website. I don't want to use a web application, and I don't want to use MVC (for various reasons). I've been down a bunch of rabbit
If SignalR is an option, I'm perfectly fine going that route, especially since there are a lot of samples online. If there's something else that would work better, I'd appreciate a recommendation.

If you are not building web application, then you can use WCF duplex communication to achieve this.
In short terms, in WCF duplex , service (producer) can push content to connected clients ( consumers), and single client (consumer) can push content to server(producer).
