Hi, I just prototyped a Windows8 app using SignalR to communicate with a self-hosting SignalR desktop application (tablet<->PC). During development I used a W8 virtual machine to develop and test the app and its communication. Once this was running I installed
the app on a Windows8 tablet (version 8.1). When launching the app on the tablet the app stalled. Using remote debugging tools I noticed that the 'hubConnection.Start().Wait();' call returns an exception saying: 'Unable to connect to the remote server'. The
internal exception says "An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden to its access permissions <ip:port>'. While looking for a possible cause the only thing I came across was something like 'Trust levels'. Can anyone help me out on this since
I don't have a clue on how or where to modify this on a windows8 OS.
Appreciate any help.

Can you try by disabling the firewall?

Hi, the firewall is disabled since the W8 device is on the same network as the PC running the client-hosted SignalR server application.
