We have an ASMX web service on our extranet server, which uses SSL. When a user accesses the auto generated test form outside our internal network, the test page tries to post data using http instead of https, even though the user is accessing our web service
URL in the browser using https. If a user accesses our service inside our internal network, the service works fine, it posts data using https.
This issue occurred after we moved the web service from a Windows 2003 server environment to a Windows 2008 server environment. The code and application configuration are exactly the same on both servers. The user accessing the web service outside our
network never experienced any issues until after we moved the application. Can anyone provide me any explanation for this behavior, and if it can be fixed?

Thank you post the issue to asp.net forum.
According to your description, I see your SSL web service work fine in the old server not work with the new server.
So I suggest you check your Windows 2008 server environment have open the Https port (443) and bind a valid certificate to it.
For how to install an SSL Certificate in Windows Server 2008 (IIS 7.0) please follow below article.
Hope it helps, thanks.
