On the project I'm working on, when a user logs-out they're redirected to the login page. If the users tries to login again from that point - they submit and I've verified that they have successfully authenticated, but they're redirected to the Login page
Is there any kind of inherent behavior in web.config or somewhere that would cause this?

The behavior in ASP.NET is that if an authenticated user is not uthorized (for example, not in the right role for the page being requested) then they're redirected to the login page (even though they're still logged in). Detect this on the login page and
tell them that even thought they're logged in they were not allowed access to the resource.

Do you have configured a default page in the web.config ? Do you have a ReturnUrl querystring when it happens and where does it point ?
