when we consume web service that can be developed by WCF or Web service ASMX. so from client end how we can detect which technology was used to developed web service. please discuss all the possible ways to detect it. thanks

If the service is WCF, you will have the service file extension as svc, if it is webservice it will have asmx extension. This will be main indicator if there are no changes for url exposure.
However, conceptually, the webservices or WCF services were meant to abstract the technology layer to clients and clients should use it as if it is a service irrespective of technology being .net or java or wcf/asmx. So apparently there is less focus from
providers on this aspect.
