I am looking at adding Web API to an existing MVC 4 Application. I know there is some help on the web regarding this, but my question is:
Since the MVC app already has an extensive data access layer, plus some classes and methods that Web API may interact with, should I include Web API as a separate project, or just start coding in MVC?
I should say that this is to add a single REST service that listens for an XML string POST request over SSL, and then writes the data to SQL Server.

Looks like it is just as well to create the Web API as a separate assembly.
