For those of you unfamiliar with
Visual WebGui, It is a platform for the rapid development of high quality, secured-by-design applications and the easy migration of desktop applications and abilities to the web. It is integrated within Microsoft Visual Studio, a familiar and easy-to-use
development framework, enabling deployment of the most productive, secured and responsive HTML5 applications for data-centric, business web and mobile applications.
Visual WebGui extends the capabilities of
ASP.NET for building and running data intensive applications with the scalability, performance, and security needed for enterprise deployments. Where
ASP.NET is a multi-purpose web development framework, Visual WebGui specifically supports the requirements of business application development. It empowers the
ASP.NET server within the MVC design pattern by providing enhancements for Ajax HTTP-XML communication and secure-by-design, zero-footprint HTML5 client and jQuery rendering engine.
Visual WebGui complements MS Visual Studio frameworks by addressing the needs of enterprise developers who need dedicated Visual Studio frameworks for HTML5 app development. Visual WebGui works seamlessly with
ASP.NET and can also run other ASP.NET supported third party components and controls.
Version 7.1.2 is a major update to VWG that introduces several new features, bug fixes and stabilization enhancements. Version 7.1.2 is based on Version 7.0.3 and incorporates the
fixes and features available in that version as well.
VWG Version 7.1.2 introduces the following new features and enhancements:
Support for code modality has been added to this version. This configurable setting will enable your code to be parsed on build and ensure all dialog boxes are modal and any code following them waits for the dialog to return before executing (requires VWG
Business Server edition).
The individual cells within a ListView control can now be configured to be editable at Runtime.
The Header row of a DataGrid control now has the following additional functionality:
The ExtendedToolTip is an extension to the ToolTip component and provides the same functionality with regards to regular text only tooltips. In addition, it is capable of displaying an HTML page as the tooltip.
Form level security is now available for every form within a project. Instead of applying user permissions to the project as a whole it is now possible to set the permissions per form (requires VWG Business Server edition).
New Properties have been added to the MaskedTextBox control:
VWG Version 7.1 includes two new themes: Graphite and iOS7.
The RealTimeKeyboardEvents property has been added at the TextBoxBase level so that all class derivatives will benefit from it. Setting this property to true sets the keyDown, keyPress and keyUp events for the textbox to synchronize immediately with the
server (instead of being queued and synchronized when focus is lost from the control). This is the same property that was previously implemented only for the StandardTextBox control.
A Reset button has been added to the PropertyGrid control that resets the currently selected control property to its default value.
A Selected Indicator property has been added on the control level: switching it on will display the control with a selected indicator surrounding it.
The WebSockets feature makes it possible for the server to send content to the browser without being solicited by the client, and allows for messages to be passed back and forth while keeping the connection open. In this way a two-way (bi-directional) ongoing
conversation can take place between a browser and the server allowing VWG developers to add new "push" features to their applications (e.g. Live Chat). (Requires VWG Business Server edition).
