I created a new WEB API project in VS 2013 and configure it to manage idenity using individual accounts. I can see that VS automatically created some controller classes that I can acess from other client applications.
I need to manage membership, roles, authentication, etc in a WPF application that is about to be developed.
Can I, or is there any advage in using Client Applicaton Services? What would be the best approach to access this APIs?

You can access web api from client application using HttpClient Class , may this link help you :http://www.asp.net/web-api/overview/web-api-clients .
And if you need to filtering Requests or Responses you can use MessageHandler Class .
Hope this helps
