I am building an application using ASP.Net MVC 4. My question is not specific to ASP.Net MVC 4 but, is related to identify the device from which the request was initiated.
The application can be accessed from individual user machines and the group machines (basically many users can use this machine to access the application). For the group machines I need to use some identifier which can be passed as part of request to server
using which server will identify that request is coming from machine with identifier and will record the details of the machine. This group machine could be a normal desktop or a tablet (android / ipad) or a mobile phone.
What parameter can I use as an identifier (that is unique) and available for all the devices listed above?
Intent here is to associate some default data with the device and, when request is made from the device the user doesn't have to fill the information which is associated with the device but, will be picked up by the server based on device identifier. It
would be great if I can get some information on how to achieve it.
Please let me know if some additional information is required.

What does group means in your terms? does it like domain group/Active directory ?
Was thought of IP range, but wanted to know about your exact criteria more in depth?

No its not a domain group / Active directory. By group machine I meant a common machine, that multiple users can use to access our web application.
So flow on group / common machine:
1. First User uses the system to do some work and then logs out of the system.
2. Next user logs into the system and then logs out.
continues... for many users. On this common machine I only want to provide limited functionality of the application. And, when users access the application from their personal machines then they have access to all the functionality of the system.
