I had an issue in downloading the excel file from the server detailed as below:
I had developed a website with VS2010 in WIN 7 local system which have office installed.
I had some excel functionalities where i need to open the excel file located on the server and insert some data to excel and download it to the users local PC.
All these functionalities are working fine in my Win 7 PC(Local development machine). But when deployed on windows server 2003 which do not have office installed is not generating any report.
Exception is thrown at Excel.Application(); line.
Could you please help me in identifying a solution to run the excel on the windows server.

You can't automate Excel without it being installed.

Is there any other way that we can add/Deploy dlls to GAC on the server and then get this work....

No, Excel's automation is driven by COM which is a non-.net technology that relies heavily on the registry. You need to properly install the application before you can automate it.

Thanks for your quick reply.
My one last question curretnly i am using Interop.Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.dl with
Version 220.127.116.11 in my application .If i want to install office in my server ,will it support if i install MS Office 2003? if not can you please tell me if i should go for Office 2007.Because currently i have licensed MS Office 2003 with me so will this
work if i install Office 2003.
Please can you suggest any alternative way that i can go ahead with MS office 2003 by making some changes in our code.

You could try, but I don't really know for sure. Microsoft are pretty good at making these things backwards compatible, but you'll only know if you try.
