I have designed a SSRS report using VS 2008 BIDS studio. I want to embed that report in asp.net application.
It works fine for me locally but it give error on live environment
The definition of the report 'rptName.rdl' is invalid.
Please let know what was causing this issue

Shouldn't that file extesion be .rdlc if it is local?
Also check whether you have "Microsoft.ReportViewer.ProcessingObjectModel.dll in your Bin directory
You might get a more descriptive error on the Preview pane...assuming you can access it

RDL reports needs a SSRS instance to serve them i.e. you have to deploy the rdl reports to a report server instance and then point it to the report viewer control. If you do not have a report server, then you can use local reports BUT you have to convert
the RDL to a RDLC file.
