We are working in migration project. We have an exsisting VB6 application developed more than 10 ago and that VB application calls Tuxedo Service through its API for data processing. We guess that API is a COM Component.
Now as part of migration we are going to remove the Tuxedo Service and we are going to replace that with asmx or WCF Service and currently we are discussing which one to implement.
Now we want to use the exsisting VB6 application with minimual code change.
Could some please help us how to call asmx or wcf services from the VB application.
Also give us advantage and disadvantage of doing that.

here you go with diff between WCF vs WebServices and then decide whihc you want based on your need..
here is another MSDN link how to call web servce/WCF from VB6

It depends on the requirement which one to use.
Are you going to create/develop the service or just consume the web service from external provider?
I guess here you are creating new service for your vb6 application which will provide fuctionality similar to your Tuxedo service.
if you have infrastructure available for WCF service to deploy & use it then go for WCF service as it will be easy to incorporate all the functionality of simple web service & you can extend the service functionality as per your need. Web service has some
What are the functionality not available in web service you can search on internet & compare with WCF. So it can help you to derive the decision.
Hope this help !!!
