I am glad that you have released that as open source. However, did you consider a MVC release?

I'm not sure why you ask (MVC & open source relation?) ... but the answer is
no for practical and historical reasons.
The SP tool was originally build based on webforms (2004) and turned into an N-tier WAP in 2010 (1 webproject, 7 other projects).
A. Presentation Layer
B. Business Layer
C. Data Layer
D. Cross Cutting (Security/ Operational management/ Communication)
The MVC question was asked before but to quote the MS ASP.NET Team:
"Some types of Web applications will benefit from the MVC framework. Others will continue to use the traditional ASP.NET application pattern that is based on Web Forms and postbacks. Other types of Web applications will combine the two approaches; neither
approach excludes the other."
Considering the current size of the Survey Project "organisation" (it's a one man band - looking for assistance:
http://survey.codeplex.com/discussions/352296 ), two decisive argument to stay on WAP:
Of course it's not a "religious choice" and the future of architecture and development still open to this great tool. Participating in creating it, most welcome!
