we need to develop a web app which must be compatable in mobile view also. 70% of the application users will view in the browsers and rest will be viewing either in Tablet, ipad or windows mobile devices.
I have heard of SPA(Single page applications) but have not worked. Will this be fine? Can any one suggest me which path should i take and also quickly create a prototype.

what you're looking for is not by definition SPA but rather media queries in CSS so that your html shows differently on different devices. There are frameworks for this available. The most used/known at this moment is likely Bootstrap.
The cool thing about starting a new template in VS2013 for MVC(5) is that it already makes use of Bootstrap out of the box so if you want to start your effort on a new site I suggest you take a look into this.

SPA is a popular way of developing web applications but basically you can do it with MVC, webforms, simple html as well. You simply need to have a good combination of CSS and HTML which can target different viewports.
