If my iOS app is not in the foreground (either running in the background or closed), will it still be able to receive notifications? Thanks.

I'm not sure how the iOS apps work in the background. If those are still capable/open to protocols to communication, even if those are in the background, then it will recieve notification when running in the background. There might be something you can do
in iOS app development to keep the connections (Such as websockets, HTTP) open even though the app is running in the background. Ask that in an iOS development forum and see.
When the apps are closed, there is no connection between the app and the server so it will not recieve any notifications.
