Hello everyone, I am trying to use web service .asmx in my web application. The web service runs just fine when I execute it locally. However, when I uploaded it to my hosting server, it gave me this error message:
Any suggestion on how to fix this please? The post I found through google doesn't help me solve this problem.

Hosting provider + port 17518 is asking for trouble :-)
You host on IIS? Where do you get this error? You should use the default port (omit or use 80) the web server is running on...

No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it 127.0.0.1:17518
When occur the above problem, it means that the host sent a reset instead of an ack when you tried to connect. It is therefore not a problem in your code.
Either there is a firewall blocking the connection or the process that is hosting the service is not listening on that port, this may be because it is not running at all or because it is listening on a different port. Once you start the process hosting your
service try netstat -anb (requires admin privileges) to verify that it is running and listening on the expected port.

Hello Amy Peng, thanks for the reply. I found out a way to solve this problem was to compile my web service into .dll file and used it as psedo class. To do that, after creating the web service, publish it as file system and add reference to your website.
Hope it helps others too.
