I am designing a web page but when I try to open the masterpage in the browser (firefox), I get
the following error:
HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden
I have been trying for a while to fix this, but to no avail. Im not sure what causes this, as if i create a new default.aspx wep form in my site
that will run in the browser even if it is empty.
i haven't done any changes that could cause as as far as i know, so is there some default option I need to click/unclick?
i can look at my page in design view but not in a browser.
Any help is appreciated

You are not supposed to navigate to a master page. It's like a kind of template and it doesn't make sense to try to show this in the browser as nothing is known about which content should be shown using this template.
Create a content page that uses this master page and navigate to this content page. It works for a content page as it defines the content and which master page is used. So ASP.NET can combine all this and produce some HTML output.

Thanks, i got it working.
I should have spent more time reading about VB 2013 in the first place, all I had to do
was right click on the masterpage while editing and select "create content page".
