We have a database of calendar items and contacts. We are exposing the calendar via iCalendar (using DDay.iCal) and referencing the ics files with the webcal:// prefix. This works excellently and my users are able to just click on a link and see the calendars
We would like to expose the contacts in a similar fashion. We can create the vcard files but at the moment the users have to manually import them into Outlook, plus if the contact information changes in the database their client is not updated.
What is the best solution to this?

According to your description, we will manually updated the calendar and contacts into the outlook by vcard files.
Now we want to save the contacts information into DataBase and want to auto update the contacts information in the client, we need to create a plug-in in the outlook, I don’t think it’s a very good solution.

I suggest to update the data in Exchange, for more information about Exchange, please refer to the link below:
Hope it’s useful for you.
