Today my VS2012 has started to act funny. I can't pinpoint what it causing this to happen (i'm not doing anything particularly stressful to the PC at the time), but I get "Microsoft Visual Studio is busy... it is stuck on an internal process"... etc. When
this happens, it gives me the option to report to MS if it occurs regularly (which I tried, but hey, it's frozen so that goes now where :P ).
I then have to TaskManager => End Process in order to get VS to actually go away.
Thanks for any advice on this.

It is difficult to say exactly what is happening. I recommend you first check the event logs to see if there is a specific error getting logged.
This might also be caused by a recent Windows update. You might try backing out any recent updates to see if this helps.

Sounds good, thanks. It's definitely hard to say because it seems to happen independent of me actually doing something. But i'll keep these steps in mind.

Do you have installed updated, If no then install it. It will make your VS 2012 more stable. Maybe they have fix the issue in updated 4.
If your system run slow then try to run ccleaner. this will remove temprary file and make your computer fast.
If you work on bigger project then I suggest you to exclude the file that is not uses (lilke images or unwanted user-created stuff).
When your VS hangs what exactly you try to accomplish. What kind of file you working on. Is it C#, Css , cshtml or something else.
