I need to support Windows XP clients and I am limited to .NET 4. I am using SignalR with OWIN/Katana. When I tried to upgrade SignalR to the release candidate (2.0.0.-rc1) (with the nuget packages), it told me that .NET 4.5 was required. Will the RTM version
still support .NET 4?
The exact error message I got when installing Microsoft.AspNet.SignalR.Core 2.0.0.-rc1 was:
Could not install package 'Microsoft.Owin.Security 2.0.0-rc1'. You are trying to install this package into a project that targets '.NETFramework,Version=v4.0', but the package does not contain any assembly references or content files that are compatible
with that framework. For more information, contact the package author.

SignalR 2.0 requires .NET 4.5 but you should be able to use SignalR 1.1.x with the 2.0 versions of katana. Run the following on the nuget console:
Install-Package Microsoft.Owin.SelfHost -pre
And you should be on your way.
