I added an AsyncFileUpload control to a working page with UpdatePanel. It seemed to do nothing. Upon debugging, I noticed that FileUpload1.HasFile() was always False, even when a valid file was just selected. On a whim, I removed UpdatePanel, and now
FileUpload1.HasFile() was working properly. Unfortunately, I lost UpdatePanel functionality.
Anyone know if there is a way to get AsyncFileUpload to work from within UpdatePanel?

Try adding a trigger for your UpdatePanel.
Change the Control ID as per your button id.
<Triggers> <asp:PostBackTrigger ControlID="btnUpload" /> </Triggers>

Please put AsyncFileUpload outside of updatepanel. And you can use uploadcomplete event to saveas the file uploaded instead of button click event.
AsyncFileUpload may not behave expectedly in UpdatePanel. Some users ended with changing the form markup to
See if this can work in your case.

I like this idea. Unfortunately, because the upload button is within a FormView, get an error - button not found.
