No one here are by any stretch Oracle experts. We basically manage some tables and create new ones when needed.
We have a rather lengthy query that takes a very long time to run.
There are a few indexes created on two of the tables being accessed in the query. But they don't seem to help.
If there is more than one index on a table, how do you force the query to use the one you want?
And once an index is created, is there anything else that needs to be done to put it in use?
If it would help I could post the query and show you the two fields on each table we have as one of the indexes.

I ran an Explain and I see the index being used. I will post another question.
