I have been messing around with the Async FileUpload control for hours and haven't been able to get it to work. I am always getting 'Unknown Server Error' when I try to upload a file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for poting!
I wrote a sample about the Ajax Async File Upload Control in my environment,But I didnt reproduce this error.
The code like this:
<ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" runat="server"></ajaxToolkit:ToolkitScriptManager>
<ajaxToolkit:AsyncFileUpload runat="server" ID="afu" OnUploadedComplete="afu_UploadedComplete" OnClientUploadComplete="complete()" OnClientUploadStarted="startUp()"></ajaxToolkit:AsyncFileUpload>
function startUp(sender, args)
function complete(sender, args)
protected void afu_UploadedComplete(object sender, AjaxControlToolkit.AsyncFileUploadEventArgs e)
string filename = System.IO.Path.GetFileName(afu.FileName);
afu.SaveAs(Server.MapPath("test/") + filename);
But about this issue,I think we need to note those points:
(1) the ajax version: I suggest you can download the ajax package from the nuGet Packages.This method of download can make sure the version is right.We can click the VS menu "Project==>>Manager NuGet Packages" to download.
(2) the Permission of the floder of saveing file Gerenally,we need to set the permission to everyone
(3) need property: Occuring this situation, we need to check the control property is right,for example the id,runat and some property .
If your check the above code is right,I think you can debug your code step by step to find where is wrong.If you get more detial about this error,I think you can post it ,and we can find the reason in future.

I copied exactly what you have above and I am still receiving the error. Is there a setting in web.config that I could be missing that is required for this control to work? I wish the error could be more descriptive so I can have better luck in troubleshooting
