I've trying to build a hot towel SPA site with facebook, twitter, etc. authentication. However, the hot towel template doesn't have any authentication/logon code after created the project useing the template.
Is it a right approach that I create a "MVC 4.0" project which includes the code for facebook authentication; and then using nuget to add the hot towl files. The login page will be MVC 4.0 non-spa page. After logged in, it redirects to the page using all
hot towel technologies?

You can hybrid like what you said, but that requires some customization code to put the authentication state through REST API, check
http://www.asp.net/single-page-application/overview/templates/backbonejs-template to see how they managed it using backbone.
VS2013 preview and the upcoming next version of VS2013 has a SPA template that is truely SPA (not hybrid) with SPA style of authentication, so that you can try to manange that authentication with hot towel to see how it fit together, I haven't tried it myself
