I am unable to use the ASP.NET WAA due to Visual Studio not seeing my database. Here's what I have so far:
I created a DB named ASPAUTH using the aspnet_regsql -W command from the Framework 64 folder on my Windows 8 machine
I can view all the tables in ASPAUTH from within Visual Studio 2012 in Data Connections.
Running the Web Site Administration tool:
"There is a problem with your selected data store. This can be caused by an invalid server name or credentials, or by insufficient permission. It can also be caused by the role manager feature not being enabled. Click the button below to be redirected to
a page where you can choose a new data store."
"The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Could not load type 'MvcApplication2.MvcApplication'.
I click on Choose Data Store at lower-right of Security Tab screen
Provider is currently configured as AspNetSqlProvider
Selected "Select a single provider for all site management data"
Click "Test" for AspNetSqlProvider and get "Could not establish a connection to the database. If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the
database, and then return to this tool to set the provider.
EDIT: This happens with all new ASP MVC 3 and 4 projects.
EDIT 2: So after a few days of battling this, I decided to wipe Windows 8.1 preview and with that VS 2012 Pro, VS 2013 Pro Preview. I installed Windows 7 Pro yesterday, Visual Studio 2012 Pro, updated it to SP3, installed SQL Express 2012 with Tools (lightest
SQLE I could find), and STILL GETTING THESE ISSUES! I can access the SQLExpress instance, add databases, look at tables etc, but the ASPNET_REGSQL tool will NOT install even the default membership DB!

What did you find when you checked/fixed these issues?

I learned to code membership manually and not to rely on automated tools :)
