I have some string whose max length cab be 4. But the leading zeros are not present so I need to pad the same in string from left. I am confused, as the string are like:
Is there a way by which I can add leading zeros and then sort them, so that list can be like:
13 and so on.

My suggestion is that you must done in sql side (either sp or view ), create one column for this and give sort order value as you want.
And in crystal report just display as sort order. It is easy and maintainable.
Because in report side required formating to get numeric value and then reorder and then display on full value.
Still if you want , then
1. give order sequence in report selection formula
2. create one variable For this you may give condition to get proper value and use in report.

I agree that I an acheive this in Sp or in code and I am able to do that as well.
But this is what my client demands that there must be dynamic headers and that is why this issue is raised.
Any ways thanks for the links, I will reply as soon as I get this working.
