I am new to .htaccess and want to resolve canonical issue for a website that is

.htaccess is a LAMP/WAMP (Linux/Windows with Apache) thing.
IIS uses web.config to perform similar functionality to .htaccess

So, considering my hosting server profile .htaccess is not possible in my case. Do you suggest that I should change windows plateform to Linux and if I have Linux plateform than .htaccess is supported or not.
And what should I do to achieve .htaccess functionally through Web.config file.

if your content is supported on Linux/Apache and you know your way around on that platform better, by all means host on Linux/Apache. If however, you are more familiar or want to be more familiar, go ahead with IIS, some articles that might help you:
