I'd love to use the Hot Towel framework, but it seems I can not create a new project with it using VB.NET. Is C# the only language supported?

HotTowel is only framework which runs on MVC. So it depends on you how you are using it. You can create MVC projects using this template either in VB.NET or C#.
For more details visiti https://github.com/johnpapa/HotTowel . It only provvides you interface like .js and .html files. There nothing depends on server side code.

Make sure that you have added a reference to the project you want to access, in the project you want to access it from. You can do this by right clicking the project in the solution explorer > Add Reference.. > Click the solution tab > Check the project
you want to access > OK.
Make sure that the class you want to access is "Public". You cannot access Modules.
You have to target it like this "Project1.MyClass
